St. Clair County RESA continues to make childcare more affordable for local families through its role as a regional facilitator for the MI Tri–Share Child Care Program. This innovative program equally splits the cost of childcare between the employee, the employer, and the State of Michigan, easing the financial burden on working parents while helping businesses attract and retain employees.
As of September 2024, 15 childcare providers are participating in the program, serving 21 children from across the region. With the addition of two new employers this month, the program is poised to make an even greater impact on the community.
The Tri-Share Program has benefited local families by reducing the financial burden of childcare, enabling parents to remain in or return to the workforce while helping employers recruit and retain talent. Existing participating employers include:
M.L. Chartier Excavating, Inc.
Marshall E. Campbell Company
PTM Corporation
St. Clair County Community Mental Health Authority
This fall, the City of Port Huron and the YMCA of the Blue Water Area are joining the program, further creating a community-wide commitment to accessible childcare solutions.
“Our partnership with local employers has proven to be a win-win-win scenario,” said Riley Alley, Early Childhood Coordinator for St. Clair County RESA. “Families can afford quality childcare, businesses retain dedicated and skilled employees, and the state invests in a healthy, thriving community. The addition of the City of Port Huron and the YMCA will enable us to help even more families.”
The YMCA of the Blue Water Area, known for its commitment to strengthening families and communities, is excited to be part of the program.
“At the YMCA, we believe in removing barriers for families so they can thrive,” said Josh Chapman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of the Blue Water Area. “By participating in the Tri-Share program, we’re investing in our team members and the families we serve.”
