Knowing and using comprehension strategies help students become successful readers. They also help students thoughtfully discuss and analyze text. St. Clair County RESA has developed classroom posters and bookmarks that promote comprehension strategy use. - English Language Arts 2005 (ELA) prototype kits
With the assistance of area educators, St. Clair County RESA has developed prototypes of the state assessment for kindergarten through ninth grade. These prototypes can be used throughout the school year to familiarize students and staff with the assessment and to gain valuable information to help inform curricular and instructional decisions. Units of study employing the four teaching/learning standards:
* Higher order thinking skills; * Deep knowledge; * Substantive conversation; and * Connection to the World Beyond the Classroom. Each of the four standards can easily be developed surrounding the themes of each of the prototypes.
