How stress affects your body

Stress is a natural physical and mental reaction to life experiences. Stress is a normal part of life. Day to day responsibilities such as work and family obligations can trigger stress. Even positive life changes such as a new job, marriage or birth of a child can produce stress. The body's nervous system has a built-in stress response that causes physiological changes that allow the body to cope with stressful situations. 

Stress that continues without relief over time, can take a toll on your physical and mental health. Chronic stress that is left unchecked over time can increase your risk for serious health issues such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and depression.
