RESA offers the county's public schools a variety of programs and services designed to enrich the total educational process. Joanne Hopper, Ed.D., DirectorDr. Joanne Hopper, Director of Education Services at St. Clair County RESA, leads a department of consultants and administrative staff who provide and facilitate leadership initiatives and instructional networks. Her leadership roles include serving as Region 5 representative to the Michigan Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development; membership in St. Clair County Community Foundation's Education Task Force; Michigan's Regional Educational Data Initiative Advisory Group; and Michigan College Access Center's College Access Portal Sub-Committee.
Joanne has served as president of the Michigan Mathematics and Science Center Network and as an adjunct instructor for the Educational Leadership Programs of Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University, as well as Baker College Cass City Campus Teacher Education program. Joanne is dedicated to supporting Professional Learning Communities (DuFour & Eaker, 1999) which are based on the premise that all students can achieve at high levels with the proper support systems in place. To that end, she is committed to doing whatever it takes to assist teachers with teaching and students with learning. She is also engaged in studying the change process necessary to support educational reform.
