Early OnEarly On Michigan is Michigan's system of coordinating early intervention services for children birth to age 3 who may have a developmental delay or a medical condition that could lead to delay. It fulfills a federal mandate known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Growing and learning are your child's most important jobs. Sometimes, parents notice that their baby or toddler does not seem to be at the same stage of development as other children the same age. Identifying concerns can begin at home. Early identification of possible problems can lead to early help so each child can be more successful. The local Early On system provides at no charge: - Evaluation and assessment
- Service coordination
- Development of any Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)
The following services may be included in a family service plan; however, in some instances a fee may be charged to the family:
- Family, training, counseling, home visits
- Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
- Nursing services
- Special instruction
- Social work services
- Psychological services
- Nutrition services
- Vision services
- Audiology
- Medical services (for diagnosis and evaluation)
- Transportation to early intervention services
- Assistive technology services and or devices
- Other services as identified on the family service plan
Parents who are worried about their baby or toddler for some reason, or whose baby was born with a medical problem, can now find help while their child is still young. Many free services are available in St. Clair County.
