SC4 Celebration of Native American Culture and History Tuesday, April 6, 2010 St. Clair County Community College is presenting this program at its Fine Arts Theatre. Drumming, storytelling, and daily life in the time periods of the 1600s, 1700s, 1800s and today will be some of the topics presented at this day-long program. The program's focus is on local history (chiefs, battles, reservations, treaties, etc.). Besides being a fun experience, the program can help Boy Scouts earn an Indian Lore Badge. Spring Bird and Wildflower HikeSaturday, May 1, 2010, 8–10 a.m.Please join us for a leisurely hike with volunteer Monique Werner as we search for warblers, flycatchers and more. Learn to identify birds by sight and by "ear" as we listen for their diagnostic songs and calls. We will also look at the beautiful spring wildflowers that will be in bloom at that time. Bring binoculars if you have them. Remember to dress for the spring weather, as trails can be muddy and we will still hike in light/moderate rain showers. Cost: Free. Registration required. River Day 2010Saturday, June 12, 2010On Saturday, June 12, St. Clair County Offices will partner with other organizations in the community to celebrate River Day. Clean-ups, nature hikes, canoe trips, clean boating activities, water plant tours and other river-related activities will be offered. River Day encourages appreciation and recreational use of the waterways, and celebrates the leadership of local citizens, organizations and communities whose efforts are critical to protecting and enhancing the overall quality of St. Clair County's watersheds.
