Teacher ExplorationThe Teacher Exploration program is designed for high school seniors who demonstrate interest in becoming a certified teacher. Instruction takes place in local school districts in St. Clair County. Students in the program are taught by certified educators.
This program provides students with the opportunity to learn about a career as a teacher in classrooms from grades K–8. Students will gain knowledge of classroom planning, instructional techniques and classroom management.
Students will take two education-related classes and earn six college credits at St. Clair County Community College during the school year.
A TEC coordinator makes regular visits to the classroom. Students follow a pre-established curriculum, daily attendance is recorded and letter grades are issued for performance.
Please Note: A parent orientation meeting is required. Students must provide their own transportation to the training site and to SC4. Students report to TEC on a regular basis to meet with the coordinator and their classmates in the program.
