Drafting TechnologyIndustrial Technology Academy
In the Drafting Technology Program, taught through the Industrial Technology Academy, first-year students complete the manual drafting component by identifying drafting tools and media, developing lettering, sketching and line techniques, using geometric construction techniques, and constructing single, multi, and auxiliary view drawings. Students will also learn dimensioning systems, fasteners, and construct assembly, detail and pictorial drawings. Students will identify weldments and lay out an architectural drawing. After successfully completing the manual drafting component, students begin training in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) involving various types of software. Students will learn to create two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings electronically. Students will spend considerable time mastering 3D modeling techniques. The Industrial Technology Academy is in the St. Clair TEC building on the RESA campus, 499 Range Road, Marysville. PLEASE NOTE: Students in this program sit at their workstations for long periods of time, focusing on various assignments. The work is primarily sedentary. Specific areas of study include: - Manual Drafter – Board Work
- CAD Operator – AutoCad software
- Senior CAD Operator – Autodesk Inventor software
- Mechanical Detailer – Autodesk Inventor software
- Architectural Detailer –
- Architectural Desktop
- Viz Render
Second-year students will have the opportunity to attend St. Clair County Community College in their second year, based on teacher recommendation. The Drafting Technology Program is designed to give high school students the opportunity to participate in the Engineering/Manufacturing & Industrial Technology Career Pathway.
