Deborah Biga joined the St. Clair TEC staff in 2001 as a full-time Health Careers instructor. She brought with her over 25 years of nursing experience from a variety of health care settings. She started her career at Port Huron Hospital specializing in pediatric nursing. After more than ten years as a clinical nurse she went on to work at Children's Health Care in a unique role as a nurse provider for Medicaid children. She was also instrumental in the development of the School Health Initiative for St. Clair County RESA and the Prometric Nurse Aide Testing Site here at St. Clair TEC. She is certified as a Clinical Skills Observer, CPR/first Aid Instructor and holds certification in Train the Trainer.

According to Ms. Biga, being an instructor is the next best thing to being a registered nurse. She enjoys the opportunity of sharing her passion for nursing and considers it a privilege to work side-by-side with students as they move from classroom theory to real world application. Per Ms. Biga, "for many of my students, school takes on real meaning for the first time, and for this reason alone it is all worth it."
